Police are investigating after it is believed a car fire was started deliberately in Margate in the early hours.
Owner Tom Brabham, who was visiting family, told KentOnline how he heard a bang in the middle of the night in Northdown Road.
The incident, which happened just after 1am this morning, is being treated as suspicious by Kent Police.
Mr Brabham said: "First of all I heard a bang and then car alarm - then I saw it on fire."
He called the emergency services, and says he was told by firefighters that petrol had been used and the back window had been smashed.
He added: "The fire went out itself. It's completely destroyed."
Officers were called by Kent Fire and Rescue Service to the report of a car alight to assist with the investigation.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 1.16am on Sunday, April 7 to Northdown Road to reports of a car fire.
"One fire engine attended and crews used a high pressure hose reel to put the fire out.
"KFRS left the scene just before 2am.
"Kent Police were notified as the cause was believed to be suspicious."
