The brother of a rapper who died after falling from a third-storey window says he had been struggling with the isolation brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
Andrew Lee, 37, from Margate, was air-lifted to Kings College Hospital in London with catastrophic injuries on Wednesday night, but his life support machine was switched off the following day.
Speaking to Kent Online, his devastated brother Darren said Andrew, also known by his rapper name Rated, had depression but believes this was made worse due to the lockdown measures.
"Sadly he took his own life struggling with mental health issues and I believe due to the isolation during this pandemic," he said.
"Andrew was the most gentle, kind, sweet guy you would ever meet.
"He was known for rap singing and very well known in the local community."
Andrew, who had a son, was single and worked for a building delivery company.
Darren says his death has come at the worst possible time and is a massive shock to family and friends.
He has set up a fundraising page to help towards the funeral costs.
Writing on the page, he said: "I would appreciate it if you could spare some change to help us with his funeral costs to give him a great send off.
"Please don’t suffer in silence, there is help out there.
"The devastation this is having on family right now is unreal."
Police and paramedics were called to Union Crescent just before 7.30pm on Wednesday.
The road was cordoned off while emergency services responded to the incident.
The road was later reopened at about 10.30pm.
