Margate Road in Ramsgate closed after armed police swoop on area

Armed police swooped on a busy road following a report of a man seen with a weapon.

Officers descended on a home in Margate Road, Ramsgate at about 10.30am today - and the road was closed between Newington Road and Pysons Road.

Two men have since been arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

They were both taken into custody but have since been released without charge.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Kent Police was called to a property in Margate Road, Ramsgate at 10.30am today following a report a man had been seen with a suspected weapon.

"Patrols including firearms officers attended the scene where two men were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and taken into custody while enquiries continue."
