Thanet Way rush hour crash between Ramsgate and Minster

A driver has been flown to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on a major coastal route.

Police were called at 7.21am to the A256 in Ramsgate to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a transit van.

The air ambulance also attended and a man was taken via helicopter to King's College Hospital in London with a serious leg injury.

Kent Fire and Rescue were also called.

The carriageway from Ramsgate towards Sandwich is currently closed in order to recover vehicles.

The air ambulance was called at 7.34am.
