Work colleagues of a young woman suffering with a brain tumour have set up a page to raise money in support of her and her family.

Dawn Collidge went to Margate hospital on June 29 with a severe headache. An MRI scan then revealed a tumour covering the right side of her brain.

She was transferred to King’s College Hospital in London where surgeons operated to remove the tumour two days ago.

A fundraising page has been set up to support Miss Collidge by her colleagues at Broadstairs beauty salon Bodilight.

The 23-year-old had just began an apprenticeship with the salon.

Bodilight acting manager Debbie Hardy, 34, said: “Dawn has been working with us since April but she made a huge impact on our staff and customers.

“She was like a whirlwind when she walked through the door, bold, funny and very charismatic and we love working with her.”

More than £800 has been raised with 40 people leaving loving well-wishes on the JustGiving page.

Mrs Hardy said: “We found out about this last Thursday after Dawn went into hospital with severe headaches the night before.

“She had an MRI scan that found the whole right side of her brain had a tumour on and the hospital transferred her to King’s College Hospital in London.

“Surgeons removed the tumour on Wednesday which has now been sent for a biopsy to find out what type of tumour it is.

“Everyone is hoping and praying for a good result and wanting Dawn to get back on her feet to be happy and healthy again.”

A message was shared with supporters on the fundraising page to say that Miss Collidge was recovering after her operation but may need more treatment in the future.

Mrs Hardy added: “The reason we set it up is because I have been personally affected by cancer and I lost my dad four years ago.

“There is nothing worse than watching someone suffer and then watch your mum struggle and worry about paying the bills.

“Dawn and her boyfriend had just moved in together and her life was about to begin.

“Her parents, who are still working, have been at her bedside since the day it happened.

“This page is there to support them and hopefully this takes away any financial burden they might come under.”
