A new £6milllion science, art and design technology centre has officially opened at St Lawrence College in Ramsgate.
The innovative building has been named the 'Canon Perfect Centre' after a former pupil and head teacher of the college who, during his 31 year tenure, oversaw many building projects at the school.
The new facility, situated at the heart of the main senior school campus, sees the completion of an academic quad.
As the school's founder day on Saturday, October 13, major donors and friends of the school were invited to the building's official opening and given tours of the classrooms.
Sixth form pupil and prefect Amara Relph spoke to guests about how their generosity in giving to the school makes an enormous difference, not just by donating towards facilities, but by giving many local pupils the opportunity to join the school with bursary support.
Design technology workshops are housed on the lower ground floor, followed by two floors of science classrooms and labs, and art and photography studios on the top floor, with huge sliding doors opening onto outside balconies.
The building has also been designed to accommodate plenty of exhibition space for pupils' work.
St Lawrence College head teacher, Antony Spencer, said: "Preparing our pupils for an uncertain but exciting future that will be dominated by the growth of Al, robotics and emerging technologies makes it even more important that we foster the human qualities of imagination, innovation and creativity.
"We are delighted that this new building reflects this vision."
