A school has reassured parents after rumours suggesting trespassers had brought a knife on to the premises.

Witnesses had claimed three boys from another school turned up in Ursuline College grounds with knives.

However, no weapons were found by the school or by police.

The college will send out a letter today which says that as soon as the three people were seen, safeguarding procedures were enacted and no children were ever in any danger.

The letter read: “On Friday, March 4, three trespassers came onto the Ursuline site.

“The school’s safeguarding procedures were immediately enacted.

“The interlopers were identified and apprehended within 15 minutes.

“At no time were the students in danger.

“We have reviewed our lockdown procedures in the light of the event and found them to be extremely fit for purpose.

“The police were complimentary regarding our response.”

Police spokesman James Walker said: “Police were called to a reported disturbance at a premises in Canterbury Road, Westgate on Sea, at 1.08pm on Friday, March 4.

“It is reported that threats were made however there are no reports of any injuries.

“A 16-year-old boy has been spoken to about the incident and the matter has now been resolved.”
