Shop thief swaps old trainers for new

A MAN who tried on a pair of £70 Nike trainers in a Ramsgate sportswear shop, pushed an assistant out of the way and ran out of the building in the footwear without paying. He left behind a pair of old trainers.
The theft happened in Harbour Street at 4.15pm on Wednesday. The thief ran into an alleyway opposite that leads to York Street.
He is in his 20s, slim, with cropped blond hair. He wore a dark blue Nike hat, blue trousers and a long grey jacket. His appearance is described as scruffy.
Town centre CCTV footage is being viewed by police to identify the thief.
