A burglar has been jailed after tracking software in the items he had stolen led police straight to his door.
Stephen Kemp, 45, of Trinity Place, Ramsgate, stole an Armani watch, an iPad, cash and passports from an address in Newington Road on May 3.
After calling police in the morning, his victim called back later that morning saying she was using the tracking software installed on her stolen iPad and it was at a house in Trinity Place.
Police recognised the address as being linked to Kemp and immediately visited him.
As officers entered the house, Kemp was seen climbing out of the window. When he was caught he was wearing the stolen watch.
Inside his home officers found a bag of stolen property and the iPad was found in a chest of drawers.
When interviewed by police he denied stealing the items but he pleaded guilty to the burglary.
Kemp was sentenced to three years and three months when he appeared at Canterbury Crown Court on Wednesday.
Investigating officer DC Rebecca Mross said: "Even though Kemp had a track record for burglary he did not realise how easy it could be to find stolen items when they have tracking software in them.
"That along with a good knowledge of the area by officers meant Kemp was quickly identified as the culprit."
