The grand finale to Ramsgate’s Summer Squall festival was washed out as the squall was replaced by a day of driving rain.

Organsisers of the fifth annual celebration of the arts cancelled Ban Holiday Monday evenings boat parade and the symbolic burning of the craft on the shore.

They said:” Due to the severe weather cancelled the evening’s entertainment and it will be saved for another event in October or November.

”So many people have put love and care into preparing and making the boat, costumes and so on that it would be too sad to waste their efforts so we’ll be back with a new date and event, as soon as possible.”

The Klezmer concert, dance workshop, Gurney and Somme film in Ramsgate Tunnels and Importance of Being Earnest went ahead as planned and closed the successful event that featured a diverse range of music, opera, theatre performances and workshops, spoken word open mic event, a dance studio and a family funfair over three days in and around the town.
