Westgate man charged with robbery following wine thefts

A suspect has been charged after reportedly robbing wine and threatening a person with a blade.
Following an investigation in Westgate, Chris Bygraves, 35, of Roxburgh Road, has been charged after allegedly stealing alcohol from a shop in the town on September 28 and October 2 2023.
He has also been charged with a public order offence, threatening a man with an offensive weapon, namely a pocket knife, and harassment at the same shop on September 28.
Further charges were authorised, including robbery following an incident on October 2 in which two bottles of wine were reported stolen from the shop.
He is also accused of vehicle interference, theft of a headtorch from a vehicle, and assaulting an emergency worker, on the same day.
He remains in custody to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today.
