A suspect has been charged following a burglary in which a dying man's funeral fund was stolen from his home.

About £3,000 was taken from Terry Price's property in Leopold Road, Ramsgate, after it was broken into earlier this month.

The terminal cancer sufferer, 66, had kept the savings as he "didn't want to burden anyone with having to meet cost of his funeral and wake".

And this morning, detectives have revealed Mark Queen, of Gordon Road in Margate, has been charged during their investigation into the break-in.

A police spokesman said: "Between 2.30pm and 3.10pm on Saturday, November 12, a property in Leopold Road was broken into and a large amount of cash was stolen.

"Following an investigation, Queen has been charged with conspiracy to burgle."

Queen, 31, is due to appear before Folkstone magistrates today.

Officers say a woman arrested last week in connection with the burglary remains on bail.
