If you have a favourite bear that needs some love and care, then the Teddy Bear Hospital could be the place for you.
The shop was established in 1997, and puts its success down to what the owners call their love of old things and in particular, teddy bears.
It was previously based in Broadstairs but moved to a new premises in Cliftonville yesterday.
The team repair all kinds of soft toys, including antique teddy bears.
Co-owner of the shop Mark Maltwood, 54, said: “We had a great first day. We were busy from the moment we opened right through to 5.30.
“The reaction to us moving here has been very positive, people from shops up and down the road have also helped us move in and it is like a whole community here.
“Everybody helps each other and there are people trying to build businesses here, I hope we can spread it to the whole of Northdown Road and bring back the good old days.”
The shop on Northdown Road has been renamed Sunny Vintage and Retro, which the owners say has been described as a collectors heaven.
It will sell everything from old postcards to jewellery, old toys and vinyl records.
Mark and Jane’s first love though, remains with the teddy hospital and they will continue to provide this service at the forefront of the business.
