Tension is building as the Thanet electorate waits to find out
the results of four separate elections.

Officials are today (Friday) frantically counting ballot papers
at Margate's Winter Gardens, with the results of the Kent County
Council (KCC) election expected mid-afternoon.

The make-up of Ramsgate's new parish council and the results of
the Thanet Villages district by-election will also be announced
later, although votes cast in the European election will not be
counted until Sunday, in line with other EU countries.

Labour currently has three county councillors - Ramsgate duo
Alan Poole and Liz Green, and Margate and Cliftonville
representative Clive Hart. They are anxiously waiting to find out
whether high-profile resignations at the heart of government from
Gordon Brown's cabinet this week have affected local votes.

ThanetExtra.co.uk and kmfm will bring you the news and
results as they happen, and minute-by-minute updates are also
available at Twitter.com/ThanetExtra.

A full election run down will be printed in next week's
Thanet Extra, available from Wednesday.
