Margate: Dreamland welcome 50,000 on opening weekend

Tens of thousands were welcomed to the newly revamped Dreamland across the bank holiday weekend, following the re-launch on last Friday.
The park saw 50,000 people visit the park for fun, thrills and entertainment.
With restored vintage rides, new street food vendors and bars and art installations, families and day-trippers flocked to the site.
Steven Mitchell, CEO at Dreamland, said: "We're delighted with the success of our opening weekend.
"The high visitor numbers reflect the interest that people have in Dreamland.
"We are confident that this will be a great year for the park and Margate as a whole."
Dreamland is free to enter and is now open for the whole of half term and weekends until July 21.
From then the park will be open for the whole of the summer through to September.
The inside areas are open all year round and include Roller Disco, Vintage Arcades and Octopus’ Garden.
Following the successful opening weekend, Dreamland have announced further plans for its music line-up this summer.
Mercury Price and Ivor Novello-winners alt-J are set to play at the park later this year, on Tuesday, September 5.
As part of a five-date UK tour, alt-J will take the stage at Hall By The Sea, which recent;y had a state of the art sound system installed.
Alt-J said: "This September we’ll be taking a few trips to the seaside, playing gigs in Brighton, Margate, Bournemouth, Weston-super-Mare and Blackpool.
"Fish and chips, penny arcades and RELAXER… See you there?”
Tickets went on sale at 9am this morning, and are available at dreamland.co.uk
