A young woman suffered a miscarriage and was left having seizures after she was brutally attacked by a group of women.

Beth Newman, 18, had been watching the Euros final at the Quart In A Pint Pot with her aunt and a friend when she was kicked in the head and stomach in the "unprovoked" attack.

She had been leaving the pub in Charlotte Square, Margate, shortly after 11pm on Sunday, July 11, when she was accosted by a woman she did not know.

Speaking to KentOnline exclusively after the attack, Beth said:"It was completely unprovoked.

"I walked round past the first girl and was walking back towards the pub walking back to grab my friends, and she just looked me up and down.

"I looked at her back, and she was like 'what the **** are you looking at?' I just calmly said 'what's your problem?'

"I started to walk away and she came up behind me and grabbed my plait, and punched me round the side of my head.

"I tried to defend myself, but before I knew there were just loads of them all on top of me."

Beth believes the assault was carried out by between four and six women.

"They kicked me in the head and stamped on my head, and kicked me in the stomach, which later caused a miscarriage," she said.

Beth's mobile phone was also stolen in the attack.

Her mum, Kat Hazelton, recalled the moment she was told her daughter was suffering a seizure following an attack, and she raced from her house to the pub

"It felt like it took hours to get there and when I walked round the corner to see her convulsing really badly, it was such a huge shock," she said.

"Such a traumatising thing to happen to her and to witness. I’ve never been so scared."

Beth was rushed to Margate's QEQM hospital, where she was treated for a head injury and remained for four days.

"I was in and out of seizures on the floor, and in the ambulance," she said.

"I don't remember that whole night. I just remember next day being in hospital and being in so much pain.

"I couldn't move my neck, couldn't walk properly. I was covered in bruises from head to toe - everywhere. It was pretty awful."

Two days after returning home Beth, who was early on in her pregnancy, began bleeding and tragically found she had miscarried.

A CT scan carried out at the QEQM found no bleeds or fractures to her head, but Beth continued fitting for several days after the attack and is now awaiting an MRI.

She is now on bed-rest, and is unable to start a job she was due to begin as a carer.

Beth says she has been left confused by the attack, and the women's motive.

"I didn't know who they were," she said. "I don't know if their motive was that they wanted my phone and my money, and that's why they attacked me. I don't know.

"They obviously just didn't like the look of me or something."

She says the attack has left her fearful.

"I'm scared to leave the house," she said. "I don't want something else [like the assault] to happen, and I don't want to be alone because I might have a fit."

A friend of Beth's has now set up a fundraiser, and hopes to raise £700 to replace the stolen phone along with "a bit extra for Beth to just treat herself".

The Justgiving page says: "It would be amazing if we could get anywhere near the target. She deserves to have that beautiful smile back on her face like she did in [pictures taken] at the beginning of that horrid night."

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
