Margate train station taped off by police after serious incident

Police cordoned off a train station following a serious incident which saw numerous officers deployed to the scene.

Margate station was taped off and passengers wanting to get to the platform were forced to wait outside.

Police guarded the station and set up a perimeter blocking access at about 8pm.

Witnesses say they saw a handcuffed man being taken away from the station by officers.

The station had been busy throughout the day with people heading to Margate beach to make the most of the warm weather.

Trains are still running on schedule to and from Margate for the remainder of the evening.
