Travellers have taken over a site near Ramsgate seafront.

About a dozen caravans pitched up on the land behind the Westcliff Mansions near Royal Esplanade last night.

Officers from Thanet District Council say they will be issuing them a notice to leave.

It is the latest in a long line of illegal incursions in the district this year.

A TDC spokesman said: "We are aware of the illegal traveller encampment that has arrived at Royal Esplanade, Ramsgate.
"Officers from Thanet District Council will visit the site in order to undertake the necessary welfare assessments and following that, as appropriate, the required notices will be issued."
