Firefighters were called to a property in Victoria Avenue, St Peters, near Broadstairs, just after 3pm today.
They found smoke issuing from an upstairs bedroom window. The owner of the property had already evacuated and was being assessed by paramedics.
Crews entered the property wearing breathing apparatus to put out the fire, which had started in a tumble dryer in the bedroom.
The room suffered severe fire, heat and smoke damage.
No-one was injured.
