A new chairman is set to begin at Turner Contemporary.
Clive Stevens, the chairman of Kent accountancy firm Kreston Reeves, will take over the role from Stephen Sunnucks after he retired for personal reasons.
Since opening in 2011 the gallery has welcomed more than two million visitors and engaged with more than 100,000 people with its learning programme and activities.
Mr Stevens is a founding trustee and has been vice chair of the board since 2008.
The chartered accountant said: "I am delighted to become Turner Contemporary’s new chair.
"The gallery’s world-class programme inspires and delights audiences and plays a real role in the social and economic regeneration of Margate and East Kent.
"The future will not be without challenges but there are massive opportunities for continued growth and success.
"Working with children and young people, we inspire the next generation to develop their creative skills, enriching their lives and those of others.
"There has never been a more important time for the gallery and I believe our work transforms individuals lives and helps build a better society."
Board members say the gallery has contributed more than £41 million to the local economy through tourism and inward investment
Director Victoria Pomery said: “This is great news for Turner Contemporary. Clive Stevens has played an extraordinary role in the development of the gallery.
"We have a hugely exciting and ambitious programme planned for the next few years and it is excellent to have a chair, supported by a board of trustees, who is committed to the future success of the gallery and will support me and my team.
"I am looking forward to working with Clive."
