Breakfast television presenter Kate Garraway will be playing a leading role in the production of Rapunzel in Thanet.
The Good Morning Britain star is narrator for Margate Operatic Society’s winter show at the town’s Winter Gardens from Wednesday, December 3, to Sunday, December 7.
She follows in the footsteps of Big Brother narrator Marcus Bentley whose distinctive Tyneside accent was the pre-recorded voice of The Mirror in Snow White last year.
Director Stuart Clements said: “She has a really distinctive voice and it is fantastic that she is our narrator. She hopes to bring her family to see one of the shows too.
“We always like to do something a bit special. Our member Guy Underwood is related to someone who works with a theatrical agent and she is friends with Kate.
“We approached her and to our delight she recorded her role in a professional radio station and sent it to us. It is perfect.”
The award-winning team features Etta Williams who is making her MOS debut in the title role, with Prince Albert played by Donna Clements, the two courtiers played by Amy Simpson and Lindsay Ubuntu, and Lee Mcqueen as Finnis.
Shows are nightly 7.30pm with weekend matinees at 3pm. Tickets cost £11 from 01843 297780.
