Fire crews rescue two people from fire at flat in Northdown Road, Margate and now fighting blaze in New Romney

Two people had to be rescued from a fire at a flat this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to Northdown Road in Margate and three fire crews were at the scene shortly after 4pm.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
“Crews rescued two people and provided medical support before handing them into the care of paramedics.”
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
Firefighters were able to leave the scene 30 minutes after arriving.
Stagecoach diverted some of its bus services while the blaze was being tackled but they are now running normally.
Fire crews have also been a barn fire in New Romney this afternoon.
Three engines were sent to the scene just before 4.50pm.
