Fire crews from across Thanet spent around three hours tackling
a suspicious blaze at a derelict property in Ramsgate.
The fire broke out at around 6.20pm last night inside The
Hideaway - a cottage and former antiques shop on West Cliff Road,
opposite the Old Ramsgate Hospital residential development.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service teams from Ramsgate, Thanet
(Westwood) and Margate were called to the scene.
An ambulance was also sent to the property amid fears that
squatters were living inside. No-one was hurt in the fire.
West Cliff Road was closed to traffic until 9pm when
firefighters left the scene.
