An elderly woman is recovering in hospital today after her wrist was broken in a mugging in Margate.
The 85-year-old, from Westgate-on-Sea, was pushed to the ground by a man who stole her handbag yesterday.
The victim was in the Union Row pedestrian precinct, off Hawley Street, at about 4.15pm when the attacker ran up behind her.
As the bag was pulled from her shoulder, the woman fell over - hitting her head on the pavement and breaking her wrist.
The pensioner was taken to the QEQM Hospital, in Margate, where she is being treated for her injuries and the shock of the robbery.
DI Jon Holl, from Kent Police, said: "We urgently need to hear from anyone who can help us with this investigation.
"I am sure that, like us, many people will be particularly disgusted that an elderly woman has been left injured and in hospital following this incident."
Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to phone DC Peter Edwards at Kent Police on 101, giving reference ZY/34666, or contact Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
