A suspected shoplifter has been charged after a shop worker was assaulted.
Alanah Huggins, 35, is set to appear in court today following an investigation into items being stolen from stores in Ramsgate.
Ms Huggins, of St Mary’s Road, Minster, Ramsgate, was charged yesterday with four counts of theft, a public order offence and common assault.
It follows an investigation into reports of a person taking goods without paying from stores in York Street, St Lawrence High Street, Grange Road and the Texaco petrol station shop in West Cliff Road on Saturday.
At the Grange Road store, staff were verbally abused and one person was assaulted during the incident.
Ms Huggins was remanded in custody and will appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today.
