A woman scratched the word “w***e” into a love rival’s car before throwing a stone through her window.

Enraged Chanele Kilpatrick, from Margate, carried out the targeted vandalism after her boyfriend left her for another woman.

The 34-year-old had spoken with her ex’s new partner on social media before going to her Ramsgate home and etching the disparaging word on the side of her vehicle on May 21.

She would later return to smash a window with a stone at the woman’s house, Margate Magistrates’ Court heard.

Dylan Bradshaw, prosecuting, revealed a fraught backstory culminated in Kilpatrick’s actions that day.

He added: “The other woman is in a relationship with her ex-partner and it has caused a significant bone of contention to the defendant; it’s caused her a great deal of upset.

“At about 1pm that day she attended the woman’s address after some communication on social media and then, left but at about 3.30pm Kilpatrick went back and scratched the word w***e on the woman’s car door.

“Later in the same evening, Kilpatrick went back and threw a stone through her window.

“She is lightly convicted, she’s has a drink-driving offence from 2021 and in 2022 she was convicted of driving while disqualified and without insurance.

“I will be asking to make an application for a restraining order.”

Kilpatrick, of Upper Dane Road, Margate, was later charged with two counts of criminal damage and admitted both offences when she appeared before magistrates on Thursday.

The court heard Kilpatrick told probation she had been with her ex-partner for many years and, after he left, she was served an eviction notice.

She told the officer he had not helped to contribute financially to the property.

Defending herself, Kilpatrick said she had been with the man for 15 years and also claimed she had previously been attacked by the woman.

She added: “He walked out on me and he was with this woman.

“She wouldn’t come out [of the house] and she’s got my partner.

“He’s not paid the mortgage, he has the car, - I have a Section 21 notice now.”

Magistrates told Kilpatrick they understood she was in a difficult situation, but said she could not do what she did that day.

They placed her on a conditional discharge for six months and banned her from going near the woman or her address for a year.

She was also ordered to pay a £26 victim surcharge.
