Yobs have daubed phallic graffiti and tags in a quiet cemetery, in an act described as "the ultimate disrespect".

Lorraine Luckett was visiting her father's grave in Ramsgate Cemetery in Cecilia Road when she noticed the "dreadful" vandalism.

The defacement includes phallic images, a skull and cross bones and tags reading 'Baz'.

Mrs Luckett told KentOnline: "I usually go every day and the entrance to the cemetery is lovely with the archway and everything, and now there's a giant penis on the tree. It's massive.

"That's the first thing people would see during a funeral - it's dreadful.

"It's so disrespectful and just mindless vandalism."

It is believed the damage happened on Wednesday night.

The 42-year-old added: "The memorial team do so much work to make the cemetery look nice, and someone has gone up there and done that.

"It's not good enough.

"That's just the ultimate disrespect."

Mrs Luckett, who has been visiting the cemetery for eight years, believes the "mindless" criminals responsible "have no respect" and "just did this without thinking".

She continued, "I know we have graffiti everywhere but not in a cemetery.

"It's not nice and not appropriate.

"Whoever has done this needs to take responsibility and clean it up.

"I'm angry about it.

"At the end of the day we go there for a reason and it's just upsetting.

"It's just not necessary."

Thanet District Council confirmed some of the paint has been removed since the incident last week.

A spokesman said: "We have heard from our teams that the graffiti has now been cleaned from the tree.

"For information on how we respond to incidents of graffiti, including obscene graffiti, please see our website."

Mrs Luckett reports that while most of the graffiti at the site has now been cleared, some still remains.
