Margate manager Nikki Bull brought in two new faces this week and says he will continue to wheel and deal until his team start getting the results he thinks they are capable of.

The Gate boss always said he would give it eight games before making any decisions about his new-look squad, but felt compelled to act after Saturday's 1-1 home draw with Hungerford when the Blues were outplayed for large periods.

In came winger Vas Karagiannis on loan from Maidstone, and former Whitehawk right-back Chris Sessegnon, on a non-contract basis, and both impressed in Tuesday's 2-1 home victory over East Thurrock United.

Bull is keen his side maintain that momentum, at Bishop's Stortford on Saturday, particularly as he admitted Margate's points tally in Vanarama National League South is somewhat short of where he hoped it would be at this stage.

He explained: "I said at the start of the season that I would give it eight games and that there would be no knee-jerk decisions (about the team).

"I think (eight games) is long enough to get a clear indication of how people are going to perform and there were things in games which kept happening so I had to do something.

"We've taken seven points from the last 12 but we're still short of the target I set, which was to have a minimum of 16 points after 10 games.

"Tuesday's performance was not perfect by any means and in some ways encapsulated our season. At times we looked really good, solid and with good pace but we still have those 10 or 15 minute spells when we are all at sea and they are the things we need to eliminate."

New boy Karagiannis was named man-of-the-match against Thurrock and Bull believes both he and Sessegnon can only get better once they are fully fit.

Neither had played a full 90 minutes for six weeks, with 22-year-old Sessegnon having missed out on a deal with Portsmouth after spending part of the summer on trial with the League 2 club.

Gate, in 15th, travel to 18th placed Stortford without an away point, while their opponents have yet to win in four attempts at home.

However, Bull added: "We didn't deserve anything from our games at Chelmsford, Wealdstone or Ebbsfleet but we were superb at Poole where we should have won and I'm sure if we perform to our potential on Saturday we'll get a positive result."

In a busy week for Margate left-back Danny Fitzsimons has gone on a month's loan to Greenwich Borough, while striker Marcel Barrington is expected to join Grays - also on loan - on Thursday.

Lewis Taylor faces a month out as he tries to cure the Achilles problem which troubled him last season, and Aaron Tunwa (hamstring) is probably still another 10 days away from being fit.
