Snowboarder James Barnes-Miller wins two World Cup golds in Pyha, Finland

Snowboarder James Barnes-Miller is celebrating after he won two World Cup gold medals.

Barnes-Miller, born in Tunbridge Wells before moving to Broadstairs, came out on top in two categories at the championships, held on Friday and Saturday in Pyha, Finland.

After claiming his first World Cup gold of the season, the 33-year-old wrote on Instagram: “First World Cup boardercross and first gold of the season - absolutely buzzing!

“I love coming to this place.

“Big thanks to @scorginski for making my boards the fastest and @karelvangoor [and] @superradness for the best coaching.”

A former pupil of Broadstairs College, Barnes-Miller, born without a right hand, competed at the Winter Paralympics in 2018 and 2022.
