Former Margate manager Reece Prestedge is back in football as part of Sittingbourne’s backroom staff.

Prestedge had been out of the game since he was sacked by Gate early last December but will link up with Brickies boss Ryan Maxwell as the Woodstock outfit target Isthmian South East promotion.

On social media on Tuesday, Prestedge wrote: “Thanks for the very warm welcome - really looking forward to the season ahead.

“(It is) very exciting times.”

Prestedge oversaw Margate’s Kent Senior Cup success, beating Chatham on penalties in the Final at Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium in May 2023 but was given his marching orders at Hartsdown Park after a seven-game winless run.

Now 38, Prestedge will come up against Margate in the league during Sittingbourne’s 2023/24 season.

The former midfielder turned out for Maidstone and Bromley, as well as Margate, in his successful playing career.

Gate themselves are yet to publicly name their new boss after Mark Stimson left the club following Isthmian Premier relegation at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
