Mike Sandmann is expecting a tough game for his Margate side when they face unbeaten Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.

Gate have enjoyed a good start to the season taking six points from their first three matches.

Tonbridge have yet to concede a goal from their first three games.

After their Kent Senior Cup match with Hythe on Tuesday night they then travel to Whitehawk on Bank Holiday Monday.

Joint-manager Sandmann said: “It will be a tough game. Steve does a great job there and they have a very good side.

“They have not conceded any goals yet this season and we are the joint leading scorers, so something will have to give there.

“We are looking forward to it. It has been a good start to the season for us and it has been a tough few games with Whitehawk coming up after Tonbridge.

“We plan to make a few changes and give the under 23 lads an opportunity in the Kent Senior Cup game. It will be a good opportunity to look a the young players.”

Margate enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 victory at Brightlingsea Regent on Saturday after a brace from Frannie Collin and one from Joe Taylor.

Sandmann praised the way his side went about the match and deserved to come home with three points.

Sandmann said: “It was a good, solid and professional performance. We limited them to only a few chances.

“I never thought we would concede in the match. The five at the back were excellent and defended very well.

“We won the ball back consistently and we deserved to take that 3-0 lead going into half-time.

“I was desperate for the lads to get a clean sheet after we conceded two sloppy goals the game before.

“I can’t remember them having a clear-cut opportunity in the whole match.

“I wanted to give a special mention to the fans who made the trip to Brightlingsea and we were pleased we could give them three points to go home with.”

Collin now has three goals to his name from the first three matches of the season.

Sandmann is impressed with the way he has performed alongside his strike partners.

“Frannie Collin is always going to score goals. We are playing him in a higher position this season and he linked up really well with Joe Taylor.

“We were thrilled for Joe to get off the mark and score as well. It was good to see two of our three forwards get on the scoresheet.”
