Former Tottenham Hotspur youngster Eddie Carrington joins Isthmian League Ramsgate after spells at Leatherhead and Potters Bar; Spurs remain interested in Josh Ajayi

Ramsgate have snapped up a former Tottenham youngster for their season run-in.
Eddie Carrington moved to the Isthmian South East side before the weekend and came off the bench late on in Tuesday night’s 3-1 home defeat to Corinthian.
He’s the latest exciting addition for the Rams and comes to a side who have a player in Josh Ajayi who still has dreams of making a move in the opposition direction.
Ajayi claimed all four assists as the Rams beat Lancing 4-0 on Saturday and was on the scoresheet against Corinthian.
Commenting on his latest addition, manager Matt Longhurst said: “He watched on Saturday to see how we do things, to get to know the players a bit better. He is a real top kid.”
Carrington, who spent time as a junior with Brentford before two years in the Tottenham academy, was at Leatherhead and Potters Bar this season but has struggled to settle.
The Rams boss continued: “He has been coached his whole life so he understands what we do and when we are bringing people in this late on, they have to be able to hit the ground running.
"We have had one or two other signings, good players, good lads, but I have let them go, because they can’t get up to speed with how we play. It’s nothing against them, we just don’t have the time.
“It is very hard for the boys when you come out of Tottenham and are landing in non-league, it is difficult to find somewhere that suits you, hopefully he can settle here and we will do the same that we have done with the others.”
A dream move to Tottenham is still a possibility for Ajayi. He has already trained with them and had interest from Football League clubs but a move hasn’t materialised. Spurs have asked him to train for the rest of the season, however.
Longhurst said: “It knocked him a bit when he didn’t go anywhere but it was his choice, the right move wasn’t quite on the table.
“We have got a number of clubs watching him every game and Tottenham have offered him the opportunity to train until the end of the season which is great. There could potentially be something on the table at the end of the season.
“It is such a good group of boys they wanted him to go - they want the best for Josh - but they’re delighted he is staying. They put the arm around him a bit when nothing materialised and it took one or two weeks when he wasn’t great but we kept him in the team and he is now back to his best. He scored last week and has been very good the last three or four which is good leading into an important period for us.”
Tuesday night’s action saw Corinthian take a 20th-minute lead but they were pegged back when Ajayi netted eight minutes later. The visitors got in front from the penalty spot just before the break and added a third late on.
Ramsgate remain third and head to Whitehawk this Saturday.
