Margate have been busy preparing for two matches in four days.

They have signed midfielder Cameron Brodie on a one-month loan from National League South Dartford and versatile full-back Freddy Barton from Isthmian Premier rivals Cray Wanderers - but midfielder Adam Topley and striker Emmanuel Oluwasemo have left Hartsdown Park.

Gate say Topley, who came off the bench on the opening day before two successive starts, was struggling to travel to Margate after a change in work circumstances.

Oluwasemo also came off the bench in Margate’s opening-day 1-1 draw with Kingstonian but he hadn’t featured since having joined Margate in the summer.

Brodie last season was on loan at Cray Wanderers - where Margate manager Andy Drury spent time as player-assistant manager - and Brodie was the club’s supporters’ player-of-the-year. Brodie also had come on at right-back last January as Dartford drew 1-1 with Hungerford.

On his new signings, Drury told Margate's website: “Both Cameron and Freddie can offer us something different.

“Cameron spent last season at Cray Wanderers and won their supporters’ player-of-the-year award. He works so hard and will rattle around the middle and provide additional cover in front of the defence.

“I worked with Freddie at Cray last season and he's a brilliant full-back that is versatile. Signing Freddy may allow us to change the way we play and the positions of other players to get more from them.”

Margate host Horsham tomorrow night (7.45pm kick-off) and travel to Cray Wanderers on Monday.

“I’m pleased we could add both of these to the squad before the Horsham game,” Drury added.
