Appeal for information after woman reportedly assaulted on her doorstep in Wellingtonia Way, Edenbridge

Police are investigating after a women was reportedly assaulted by a stranger on her doorstep.

The incident allegedly happened in Wellingtonia Way, Edenbridge, at around 10am on Monday.

The victim said she answered her front door to a man and after bending down to pick up her dog felt a blow to her side.

The man then turned away from the door before the victim realised she was bleeding.

She was taken to hospital with a small puncture wound to her stomach but discharged later that day.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

The suspect is described as being white, aged 20-25 and of gaunt appearance. He was wearing a black jacket with the hood up at the time.

Detective Constable Dave Bull said: "This was an unprovoked attack that must have been terrifying for the victim involved.

"We would especially like to hear from a teenage boy who walked with the victim to a local taxi office and offered to travel with her to the hospital. He may have vital information that could help us catch whoever is responsible."
