13:50, 09 January 2015

A picture of a distinctive and valuable necklace has been released by police investigating a burglary.

The item of jewellery was part of an extensive haul which included 300 antique propelling pencils and an antique brooch sharing the necklace's bat-theme.

Thieves targeted the property in Tonbridge on December 5, with a large safe also stolen from the address.

Witnesses report seeing the safe being loaded into a car, believed to be a white BMW 1 Series.

Detectives are now appealing for information in case anyone has seen any of the items for sale, or if any antique dealers have been offered the items.

Det Con Natalie Sammells explained: "The victim had collected a number of items and the value of these items stretches well into the thousands of pounds.

"It is likely that the offenders will look to sell these items to profit from their crime. We would appeal to anyone who thinks they might have seen any of these items for sale, or been offered them, to make contact with us."

Anyone with information should contact DC Sammells on 01622 604372, quoting crime reference YY/24717/14. Alternatively, contact Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
