The family of a grandfather who died after being hit by a car in Borough Green have today spoken of their grief.

James Kilpatrick, 85, was hit by a silver Vauxhall Astra in High Street on Friday, June 13.

He was taken to King's College Hospital, in London, with life-threatening injuries, but died on Sunday, June 29.

Mr Kilpatrick's family have now paid tribute to him, saying in a statement: "James was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

"He leaves behind his wife Phyllis of nearly 57 years, his children Heather, Ian and Donald, and seven grandchildren.

"He loved spending time with his family, friends and pottering in his garden. His death has left a huge hole in the lives of everyone who knew him."

Following Mr Kilpatrick's death, police have renewed their appeal for information.

PC Jamie Woodhams said: "The collision happened in the middle of the day when there would have been lots of people out and about.

"I'm hopeful that anyone with any information – however minor they may think their information is – will make contact with me."
