10:00, 06 January 2017
A homeless man has admitted wounding a police officer with a knife in a Tonbridge street.
Sean Medhurst pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding PC Michael Bowen but denied the more serious offence of wounding him with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
He also admitted threatening Jamie Manser with a blade in a public place - Whitelake Road and Pinnacles Road, Tonbridge - on December 2 last year.
He denied a similar offence involving PC Bowen in Darenth Avenue.
Medhurst, 49, also denied harassment of a woman in Willow Lea in the town the same day.
He admitted taking a car without consent, obstruction and failing to provide a specimen of breath.
PC Bowen was treated in hospital for a slash wound to his forearm, but has since returned to duty.
The plea and trial preparation hearing was adjourned to January 23.
Medhurst, who appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday by video link with Highdown Prison in Banstead, Surrey, was remanded in custody.
