Two brave men from Kent have tackled deep water, rope obstacles and hot logs as part of a Spartan Race.

Newton Waterproofing employees Stuart Tansey and Richard Crossley competed in The Beast - Reebok Spartan Race to raise money for the charity WaterAid UK.

The pair from the Tonbridge-based company took on the 20km run and battled 26 gruelling obstacles on the way completing the feat in three-and-a-half hours.

The challenges facing them including a fire jump where participants leap through logs ablaze with fire, a crawl through mud underneath barbed wire, a rope climb suspended over water and a two foot wall into a water pit.

Richard, technical manager at Newton Waterproofing Systems said: "748 million people – roughly one in ten of the world's population – have no choice but to get water from wherever they can, whether it's a dirty pond or an expensive water vendor.

"Stuart and I spent a grueling 3.5 hours running through 20 km of knee deep mud, wading through chest high water and battling driving rain to help raise some much needed money for a great cause, Wateraid.

"With an additional 26 obstacles to conquer it was a difficult challenge as well as being fun, so please take a few moments to check out the website and any sponsorship money you feel you could spare would be greatly appreciated."
