He will go head-to-head with ten other tradespeople from across the UK and face a panel of judges on Thursday, November 19.

Mr Thomson, whose company is Huntson Building Services, has been in the industry since he was 15 years old, training for three years as a carpenter and joiner.

He prides himself on great levels of service and going above and beyond.

The tradesman is now hoping to be crowned Britain’s Top Tradesperson 2015 by Screwfix and win a brand new Toyota vehicle worth £30,000.

He added: “With so many entries to the competition, even making the final of Britain’s Top Tradesperson is an honour. I’m just crossing my fingers that I impress the judges later this month.”

John Mewett, marketing director at Screwfix, said: “At Screwfix we meet hundreds of tradespeople every day in our trade counters so we understand how hard they work and the efforts they go to in order to get the job done to the highest standard.

"It is a privilege to be able to highlight the great work that is being done up and down the country with Britain’s Top Tradesperson and we’re proud to be running the competition for the sixth year.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the response this year and have enjoyed hearing many impressive stories of exceptional workmanship and great customer service along the way. Gordon and all our finalists have demonstrated their willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done and it’s certainly not going to be an easy task to pick the winner.”

At the Wembley Stadium final Mr Thomson will not only meet the Britain’s Top Tradesperson expert judges, but will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium.

The judging panel, which includes representatives from Screwfix, the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) and the electrical trade body NICEIC, will select the national winner.
