Police were called at 6.20am and the crash near junction 4 caused queuing traffic on the motorway.

Paramedics also attended and took a man to hospital but his injuries were not described as serious.

Highways England said the car had been blocking lane two through the section of roadworks which is currently reduced to two lanes.

It was removed from the road and taken to a safe part of the motorway shortly after 7.30pm with traffic beginning to return to normal.
