A murder investigation has been launched after two women died near Tonbridge.
A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder this morning after three people suffered serious injuries.
Police were called at 7.41am to an address in Carpenters Lane, Hadlow, and have since confirmed two women, aged in their 50s and 70s, died at the scene.
A man in his 70s was taken to a London hospital for treatment, and an air ambulance landed at the site.
The 28-year-old man remains in police custody while inquiries continue.
A police spokesman said: "The victims' next-of-kin have been made aware. It is believed the victims and the suspect are known to each other."
A cordon was in place for most of the day as forensic officers go about their work.
Neighbours and those that live close to the scene have been reacting to the shocking news.
Stephen Richardson, 74, a parish councillor, who lives on Carpenters Lane, said: "It's a complete shock, normally it's a quiet area, I'm very disturbed about it. As far as I'm aware, nothing like this has ever happened in Hadlow."
Allan Maile, 39, who also lives in the road, said: "When I woke up I saw the air ambulance, and it was quite surprising as it's usually quiet around here.
"It's a shock, most people have children here, in close proximity too so it's definitely worrying. I've lived here 30 years and nothing like this has ever happened round here."
Nick Collins, 67, chairman of Hadlow Parish Council, commented: "It's clearly distressing and disturbing. No one expects that kind of thing to occur. Everyone's thoughts must be with those who have lost their loved ones and who are now picking up the pieces."
Police officers remain at the scene.
The road between Hadlow High Street and Common Road was closed throughout the day assist police and ambulances.
