A teenager from London has been arrested in Tonbridge on suspicion of going equipped for theft.

Police were called to Crabapple Road at 3pm this afternoon after residents complained that a youth was acting suspiciously and looking in parked cars and "domestic storage arears."

Officers say when they arrived at the scene a 15-year-old boy rode off on a bicycle.

A police spokesman said: "The teenager was stopped and arrested and found to have gloves, a mask and cable-cutters in his possession."

The bike was later discovered to have been stolen from Tonbridge High Street earlier in the day.

The spokesman added: "The boy has been released pending further investigation."
