Primary schools impress packed audience at the Tonbridge Lions Junior Schools Choir Competition hosted by the River Centre

Seven school choirs wowed a packed audience at the River Centre in Tonbridge on Wednesday.
Two hundred and sixty five youngsters represented their competitions in Tonbridge Lions Club’s second Junior Schools Choir Competition.
Slade Primary School, in The Slade, ended the day as overall winners with St Margaret Clitherow School, in Trench Road, finishing in second.
Judges Mike Kent-Davies, Nancy Gillio-Terry and Jean Allen were unable to pick separate the remaining schools and awarded third place to Sussex Road School, Cage Green School, St Stephen’s School, Woodlands School and Hadlow Primary School.
Neal Charlesworth, president of the Lions presented the prizes with his wife Janet.
Each school received a cheque to help their music development and a donation will be made to chYps from a bucket collection.
Ken Thomas, speaking on behalf of the Lions organising committee said: “We were delighted that the event was a great success again with all the choirs performing really well and was enjoyed by all those who attended.”
