A series of free summer concerts are set to rock Tonbridge Castle next month and everyone is invited along.

The performances by a mixture of amateur and professional bands will take place on the Bailey Lawn at the castle.

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council have organised the events which won't require a ticket and visitors can simply turn up on the day and enjoy the music.

A concert will take place on each Sunday in August with spectators welcome between 3pm and 5pm.

The bands performing throughout the month are:

  • Sunday, August, 3 - Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers
  • Sunday, August, 10 - The Night Owls
  • Sunday, August, 17 - East Peckham Silver Band
  • Sunday, August, 24 - Bacchus Wind Orchestra
  • Sunday, August, 31 - Maidstone Wind Symphony

The Hildenborough Women’s Institute will be selling light refreshments throughout each afternoon but visitors are also welcome to bring a picnic.

Cllr Maria Heslop, Cabinet Member for leisure, youth and arts, said: "Roll on lazy Sunday afternoons relaxing in the beautiful setting of the castle lawn with some great band classics filling the air - these free concerts will be ‘just the job’!

"There will certainly be something to suit all musical tastes; this is such a quintessentially English thing to do that everyone should join in."
