Three people were taken to hospital after a serious crash left two cars crumpled.
Police were called to Whetsted Road in Tonbridge at around 6.15pm yesterday after a Fiat panda was hit by a blue hire car.
Paramedics were also at the scene and treated three people before they were taken to Tunbridge Wells hospital.
The step-father of the woman driving the white Fiat said he "can't believe she walked away".
He said: "My daughter was in a car crash this evening. Every parent's worst nightmare. Tourist in a rental car took full responsibility.
"She’s very bruised and cut but in one piece and walked away.
"Thank you Fiat for making your cars so safe and thank you to Kent Police and the ambulance service."
He also praised passers-by and nearby residents who helped out.
"We had off duty NHS staff treating the wounded, people helping the police direct traffic, a house nearby came out with drinks and people were fetching blankets from cars," he added.
"The witnesses were so caring and supportive. It was an amazing sense of community coming together to selflessly help strangers.
No arrests were made.
