A man who fractured a girl's eye socket in an unprovoked attack has been jailed.

Maidstone Crown Court heard how an 18-year-old girl from Tunbridge Wells had been at The Wharf in Tonbridge with pals on April 18 this year.

But, as she went to the smoking area, she was punched to the face and knocked unconscious on the floor in a completely unprovoked attack.

The victim was left with a fractured eye socket and cheekbone after the blow.

Darren Selwood, 30, of Langley Way, Kings Hill, had earlier been seen by door staff arguing with another woman.

After admitting GBH, Selwood was jailed for three years.

Speaking after sentencing, DC Graham Hunt said: "This appears to have been a completely unprovoked assault by a man who stands at nearly six foot tall against a young lady of small stature.

"His actions left her with fractures to her eye socket and cheekbone so it is quite right that Selwood should serve a prison sentence for his actions."
