Police swooped in on a quiet residential street in Tonbridge to arrest a man reported to be carrying a knife.
Officers received the tip-off yesterday just after 4pm. They found the 25-year-old sitting in a car in Turner Road, a short distance from Woodland Walk - large area of parkland.
He was released without charge.
The arrest was followed by speculation on social media of an attempted abduction of two girls on Woodland Walk by two men, one armed with a knife.
No such reports have been received by police.
