The victim of a fatal stabbing has been named.

Thomas Waugh, 20, was attacked near Avebury Avenue in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police were called at 12.55am and attended along with ambulance crews.

Multiple cordons were put in place around Tonbridge as officers investigated the tragic death.

Now, a 17-year-old boy, from Coulsdon, and a 16-year-old boy, from Tonbridge, have been charged with murder and will appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The suspects were further charged with the attempted robbery of Mr Waugh, as well as an additional count of robbery in relation to two men who had been with him prior to the alleged murder.

A 16-year-old girl, who was also arrested on suspicion of murder, and a woman, aged 47, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been released on bail, pending further inquiries.

Initially a teenager was arrested on Friday morning, with five more, including four teenagers, being arrested on suspicion of murder the following day.

DI Lee Neiles, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "We thank those who have come forward with information so far and we are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

"It is crucial that we speak to anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious, just after midnight.

"The area where the victim was assaulted was close to Tonbridge Park and a large number of residential properties.

"If you think you may be able to assist the investigation please don’t hesitate to call us."
