This weekend could determine whether Tonbridge Angels can go on to win the league title.

Third-placed Angels welcome Ryman League, Premier Division leaders Hampton & Richmond to Longmead on Saturday knowing victory would significantly boost their championship chances.

Tonbridge go into the game eight points behind Hampton with a game in hand but manager Steve McKimm is putting no pressure on his players.

He said: “If we went on a run, there’s a possibility (we could win the league) but it’s going to be tough.

"You want to play in these games. At the minute, Hampton look as if they’re favourites because they’re consistent, they keep winning and scoring loads of goals.

“They’ve got a good front three. If you can stop them, you’ve got half a chance but you’ll be in for a long afternoon if you don’t.

“If we can cement a place in the play-offs, that would be great. Being third in the league, it would be disappointing if we didn’t finish in the top five.

“We’re doing better than we thought we would. If you’d said that with 12 games to go we’d be sitting third, we’d have been happy with that but there’s still a lot of work to do if we want to be in the play-offs."

Angels won 3-1 at Kingstonian on Saturday but lost at home to Bognor by the same score on Tuesday.
