Tonbridge will have a new goalkeeper this weekend after Tom Hadler was recalled by Gillingham.

Boss Steve McKimm has moved for AFC Wimbledon youngster Billy Bishop, who’s set to make his debut at Leiston on Saturday with Angels only three points clear of the Ryman League Premier Division relegation zone.

Angels were hoping to have Hadler for the rest of the season but he may now get a chance at Gills.

McKimm said: “Gillingham have decided they want to have a look at him and it sounds like there could be an opportunity to be involved with the first team.

“A few cast doubts when I first brought him in but, at 18, he’s proved himself to be a superb young keeper. He came back for a second stint and it would have been nice to have him until the end of the season, but good luck to him back at Gillingham.”

Bishop would have played at Grays on Wednesday night but Angels missed the registration deadline by one minute, so Jack Kelly deputised in a 3-1 defeat.

Striker Billy Medlock, who has rejoined Angels on loan for the rest of the season from Sutton, scored the Tonbridge consolation. He’s set to line up alongside fellow loanee Nathan Elder at play-off hopefuls Leiston as 19th-placed Angels look to pull away from the bottom four.

But they are likely to be without John East and youngster Royce Greenidge (groin).
